Danbury Catholic Students Leave for Break with the Spirit of Christmas in Their Minds

The frenzy of Christmas took a pause on Tuesday last week as the students body at Danbury Catholic School held their annual Live Nativity. Unlike some live Nativities which have the participants simply posing in the stable, the DC Nativity begins with the Angel Gabriel announcing Mary's pregnancy to her and to Joseph, continues to Herod's declaration of the census, Mary and Joseph trying different inns for a place to stay, the birth of Jesus, and finally shepherds and kings coming to adore the baby Jesus. The program was immersed with Christmas hymns, sung by the student body and by the family members who joined the Nativity.
The students did an excellent job reliving this important historical event to Christians and left for break with the spirit of Christmas in their minds.
To the right, Joseph (Leo Dirksen) and Mary (Charlotte Gagnon) pray over the newborn king while the shepherds (Lauren Dirksen and Hannah Gagnon visible in the picture) kneel on one side of the manger, the wisemen (Carter Bettin, Oakley Meyers, and Beau Flanigan) kneel on the other side. The star (Eloise Elgers) guided the wisemen.
Below is the student body involved in the Nativity. More photos from the event will be posted online.

Attorney General Brenna Bird Secures Settlement with Menards

DES MOINES—Attorney General Brenna Bird today announced a multistate settlement with Menard Inc. d/b/a Menards, the home improvement retail chain. The settlement resolves claims made in 2020 that the company incorrectly marketed its Menards 11% Rebate Program.
In a settlement with the states, Menards has agreed to clearly communicate the limitations of the rebate program to their customers and disclose all applicable terms and conditions in a readily available manner. Menards will also clearly communicate to their customers that Menards is doing business as Rebates International.
"Iowans deserve to know the best ways they can spend and save their hard-earned money," said Attorney General Bird. "We are happy to work with Menards to make sure the details of their rebates are transparent to the many Iowans who shop there and take advantage of the program."
Menards has also agreed to the following:
    •    Allow consumers at least one year from the date of purchase to submit a rebate claim
    •    Update their online rebate tracker with information about the rebate claim within 48 hours of the application being input into Menards' system
    •    Update their online rebate tracker with additional information about the rebate, including updates about returns affecting the rebate
As part of the settlement, the company will pay Iowa $446,832.
Joining Iowa in this settlement, which was co-led by Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa, are the attorneys general of Arizona, Kansas, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio, and South Dakota.
